According to the criminals called “Bank of America” we are underwater over $300k.
We’ve been in the loan modification game since 2008 — but my home will soon no longer be ours according to them. Simply put, the word “FORBEARANCE” ended it for us.
We’ve given them three years, a bankruptcy, unemployment and on several occasions to reach an agreement only to find at the end of the day — We’re done, emotionally done, and physically ill that they don’t want to admit they alone created this problem. For this we simply want our lives back and the banks can’t have their cake and eat it too!!
We bought in 2007. The market price of the house had already dropped $50,000.00. We (and our realtors and loan agents) figured it was a good time to buy. Since that time we have lost $150,000.00 in equity and are $53,000.00 underwater. I have an interest-only loan. All I want is the chance to get a refinance at today’s low rates, so that I can keep my credit in tact, and pay on the principal. We have not received any raise in pay since we bought the home, but our cost-of-living as gone up with inflation. I’m surprised we are still hanging on. We have put off some medical items, no new electronics or cars, have postponed orthodontic and dental procedures, and are living on a restricted budget. I’m hoping something positive happens soon.
I first started paperwork for a modification in mid-2009. Since then, I’ve gone through 3 different trial periods and have yet to get a modification. Although I’ve never missed a payment, the bank claims that I am $8,000 behind, I have $200 in late fees, my escrow account is -$1,500, and my credit has been destroyed. Each time I send in a payment, the bank puts it into a partial payment account rather than applying any of it toward my balance. As of now, there is over $10,000 in that account which more than covers what they say I owe them, but they won’t apply any of it to principal or interest. Every month that passes my debt to them increases about $2,000. Never do business with Bank of America!!!
Loan: $130,000. Market value $90,000, IF, the realtors say, they can find someone who will “take on the project.” An old inefficient home, but incredibly cute and I love it. In North Montana it gets cold. Does Freddie Mac love this place enough to take it on? Heck no! I could pay, do upgrades/repairs, but HAMP has been rejected and they tell me there are no other options. WTF!
I am not sure what we owe, but it was bad enough we had to file for bankruptcy. Chase bank are frauds. Period! We asked for help when we were at our darkest hour (unemployed). My hubby served 8 yrs in the army and 3 tours in Iraq, he got out with all the hope in the world, and Chase killed our dreams. They would say “Sure we can help, we’ll get the papers to you ASAP”, and then the papers would never come. They did this twice. My husband now works full time and goes to school full time (to have an extra income as well as to make sure he can get a better paying job when he grads). But as of today we wonder how we are going to catch up on bills, and if he can even continue school. This pic was taken 4 yrs ago, before it all went bad. We were happy, but now?… well… now we are just plain scared. My hubby and I did this for our kids… Thanks Chase for killing a family’s American Dream. And the Dreams of thousands of others….
I am a single parent and I put $225,000, my life savings, down on my home. It is now underwater by $259,000. My life savings is gone. The company I worked for closed the office due to the economy. I’m 55 and have been unable to find another job. I now have no job, no life savings, and no money to even move and rent, though no one will rent to someone unemployed. All of this because of the greed and stupidity of the banks. Wonder what it will be like to be homeless and penniless. Should this be my end after a lifetime of working hard and paying my bills.
I live in Dutchess County, Dover Plains, NY. I have been trying to save my home from a sub-prime loan. Bank of America refuses to listen to me! My house is way underwater and since the housing crash, my home has dropped in value by at least $94,000.00. I owe $242,000 and my house is only worth $148,000. I’m behind in my mortgage by $80,000 on top of the late fees they want to tack on to my loan.
I have been asking the bank to modify my loan since Sept 2008 and still NO HELP! They have given me the run around and made me sick from STRESS. In October 2009 I received foreclosure papers. I have tried everything for them to help me. Hudson Valley Foreclosure prevention (the woman there dropped the ball, I thought she was helping and she did nothing for a year) I won the HUD lottery to get money but then they realized I owed more than $50,000 and they decided not to help. The job market is not what it used to be, I went from earning one salary in 2008 and now I’m making half of that. In the middle of all of this I broke my ankle and shattered my foot on Christmas morning 2008. I sent in the “Making Homes Affordable” paperwork at least 6 times. They keep misplacing it. I even wrote to the President, his office said to fill out the “Making Homes Affordable” paperwork, that I was eligible. The government keeps giving Bank of America money but WHO IS GETTING THE HELP?????
August 2011 I declared bankruptcy. I hired a lawyer to try to help me save my home. He has gone through a loss mitigation hearing (2/29/12) and still no word from the bank which is now Bank of America, NA. The bottom line is there is a problem with my mortgage, my lawyer found that one of the companies that signed the note had been bankrupt for 2 years before my mortgage. Something shady is going on and Bank of America will not own up to it and therefore I am suffering. I have pets that I don’t want to lose. No one will rent to me with them. I don’t know where to turn.
